Clyde Vernon Summer

Clyde Vernon Summer, 92, of Graniteville, SC, entered into rest on July 9th, 2026.

Mr. Summer is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Joanne Summer; children, Ricky Summer (Linda), Judy Morris (Ray), Vernon Summer (Annette) and Lisa Wood (Randy); grandchildren, Marla Atherton, Jennifer Lybrand, Jimmy Asbell, Amber Jackson, Chris Wood, Ashley Wood, Wesley Wood and Cam Summer; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Mr. Summer is preceded in death by his parents, James and Annie Summer; siblings, Dolly Johnson, Truman Summer, Mildred Hubbs and Irvin Summer; and grandson, Ricky Summer Jr.

Mr. Summer and his wife are faithful members of Christian Heritage Church. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and truly cherished the moments he spent with them. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved fast cars. He played football at Aiken High School and was also known as “The Toe.” Mr. Summer enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.

Graveside services will be held at 10am, Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9am until the time of service at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Graniteville. Pallbearers who will honor Mr. Summer are Jimmy Asbell, Ashley Wood, Chris Wood, Wesley Wood, Cam Summer and Alan Ritter. At the family’s request the family is requesting for flowers to be sent to the funeral home or donations may be made to Christian Heritage Church, 285 Ascauga Lake Rd, Graniteville, SC 29829.
