Delmas "Del" Busbee

Delmas (Del) Busbee, born October 22, 1941, in Aiken, SC, and husband of 66 years to Patsy Bennette Busbee, entered into rest peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2026 at Trinity on Laurens. He was a son of the late John and Lillie Temples Busbee, devoting his life to family and community service.

A graduate of Aiken Technical College’s Electronics Engineering Technology Program, Del retired from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), where he was known for dedicated service and mentorship.

Del found great joy in cooking for friends and the church family. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed welding, deep sea and freshwater fishing, and gardening. He also cherished traveling with his wife, family, and church groups.

He is survived by his children, Renée Stewart, Ph.D. (Terry) and Angela Wood (Keith), both of Aiken; his grandchildren, Alex Wood (Nicki) of Greenville and Harrison Wood (Taylor) of Aiken; and his great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Karlie Wood, both of Aiken. Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings (Mae Eubanks, Herman Busbee, Broadus Busbee, and Dianne Fulmer—all formerly of Aiken).

Del will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family, and the warmth he shared with all who knew him.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Thursday November 12, 2026 at 11:30am in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 11am until 11:30am, at which time the service will begin.
