Donnie Moyer Wilson

Donnie Moyer Wilson, 90, passed away on Friday evening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Edward and Mattie Scott Moyer; her brother, Wilbur W. Moyer; and her loving husband of 59 years, Leonard Earl Wilson. She is survived by two sons; Tod (Sandra) Wilson, and Eric (Sherri) Wilson both of Aiken; four grandchildren, Heather Wilson, Zachary Wilson, Hannah Goren, and Natalie Douglas; and three great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of Aiken County and a sixth generation South Carolinian.

Donnie was a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years of her life, and she taught Kindergarten at Breezy Hill Baptist Church from 1970 until 1992. At the time, the program was highly respected by the area school system for producing students who were well-prepared for elementary school.

She was also an ovarian cancer survivor from 1981. During her battle with this disease, she derived much encouragement from the cards and letters that she received. This experience inspired her to launch her own card writing ministry. Over the next 40+ years, she sent hundreds, if not thousands of cards, to encourage other people whom she knew were experiencing difficulties. She was an exceptional woman of faith and a fierce prayer warrior, who truly believed in and fervently practiced the power of prayer.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Cumberland Hills and MSA Hospice, who provided compassionate care for Donnie over the last year.

Interment will be private. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, 315 Main St., Graniteville, SC, has been entrusted with these arrangements.
