Mr. Floyd William Harris, age 99, beloved husband of 60 years to the late Evelyn Hancock Harris, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 6, 2026 at his home.
He is survived by his sister, Glenda K. Napier; many nieces and nephews but several special nieces and nephews, Debra (Glenn) Logue, Doug (Ann) Raines, Margaret Turner, Julie (Keith) Polk and Sherry Harris.
In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by his parents. Henry Harris and Lillie Mae Rushton Harris Kneece; brother, Calvin Kneece, Gene Kneece, Leroy Harris, John J.H. Harris; and sisters, Mable Turner, Zora Mae Harris and Naomi K. Padgett.
Floyd was a member of the old Vaucluse Church of God from childhood. He was employed for many years by the Vaucluse Mill, working in the Card Room. He and his wife Evelyn were very talented in making Ceramics and enjoyed working with the youth of the church. He was a great brother, friend and father figure. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Monday October 12, 2026 at 2PM in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Hardee officiating. The interment will follow at Vaucluse Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Doug Raines, Keith Polk, Glenn Logue, Auren Mitchell and Robbie Hudson.
The family would like to express their thanks to Yvonne Hudson, who has been Mr. Harris' caregiver, for her excellent care.
