Helen Byrd

Helen Byrd, age 93, entered into rest on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Hilltop Health in Rutherfordton, NC.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Byrd, three grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, her brother Jimmy Carpenter and his family, her sister-in-law Sandra Wooten and her family.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, J.Frank Byrd, her mother Myrtle Carpenter, her father Allison Carpenter, and her sister Jean Johnson.

Helen was church secretary at First Baptist Church Graniteville once she and Frank returned from his service in the army. She and Frank moved to several places for his work and was always a leader in her church wherever she lived. Her dedication to family and church will be missed by many people. Even with Alzheimer's, she touched the lives of those who helped care for her at Hilltop Health in Rutherfordton.

A graveside service honoring her life will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2025 at 2pm at the Historic Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening December 22, 2025 from 5-7PM at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
