Mrs. Helen Marie Flowers Salters, age 76, beloved wife of nearly 57 years to Mr. William Robert Salters entered the Gates of Heaven on Saturday, May 17, 2026 surrounded in love with her family.
Marie is rejoicing with Jesus and her family and friends that are there. She is now completely healed of pain that she endured while on earth. She fought until the very end taking care of others before herself.
In addition to her husband she leaves behind her sisters, Anna Jeanette Flowers Raynor and Myra Gale Flowers (Vernon) Carter and her brother-in-law Edward Harold Salters. Nephews and nieces; great nephews and nieces: Daryl Duane (Jaime) Carter, Bryson Tanner Holsonback, Edward Harold (Michelle) Salters, Jr. Tamela (Tim) Whittle, Lacey Grantham and Melissa (Bill) Clark.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Bunyan Flowers and Anna Oneta Turnage Flowers, a brother-in-law Harold Raynor and sisters-in-law Margaret (Leroy) Anderson, Mary Ann Salters and Bobbie Salters.
Marie was born December 5, 1949 in Hanna Pamplico, SC, but Aiken has been her home for 60 years. She worked at Roses Department Store, Vaucluse Mills, Swint Mill, Ryans Steakhouse, A&L Beverage and later retired from Shaw Industries. Marie was a member of Highland Pines Baptist Church, but has attended Shiloh Baptist Church with her sister, Myra, for many years.
Marie was a simple person, but she carried an abundant amount of love for her family and others. Marie and William spent most of their days together whether gardening, going to flea markets and Sam’s Club for a hotdog and her food of choice ICE CREAM. Marie was always sharing her love with others. One of her greatest joys was to give other people things that she thought would make them happy. She used her God-given talents through crocheting and sewing not only for herself but to share love and witness to others. One of her favorite ways to share was through Adults on Mission at Shiloh Baptist Church. She was always the first to arrive and the last to leave and did whatever she was asked to do. It would bring joy to Marie for everyone to spread love to everyone wherever you go.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held on Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026 at 10am in the chapel of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Hoeben officiating. The interment will follow at Vaucluse Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9am until the time of service on the day of the funeral.
Pallbearers will be: Daryl Carter, Jaime Carter, Bryson Holsonback, Vernon Carter, Myra Carter, Jeanette Raynor and Ed Salters, Jr. James Salters will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church Adults on Mission in her memory at: 3925 Shiloh Church Road, Aiken, SC 29805.
