Beech Island

Mr. J. Allen Claxton, age 76, beloved husband to Mrs. Darlene Claxton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his home in Beech Island. At Mr. Claxton's request, he will be cremated and there will not be a funeral service.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Allyson Brown (Steven) and Ashley Claxton; two grandchildren, Jules Brown and Brianna Brown; his sister, JoAnn Baldridge; several nieces and nephews; his fur baby Girlie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kermit W. Claxton and Marjorie Taylor Claxton; a brother, Mark Claxton; his grandparents, John Henry Taylor and Nancy Taylor.

Mr. Claxton, a lifelong resident of Aiken County, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and love. He graduated from LBC High School in 1967 and went on to become a self-employed painting contractor. A devoted member of Lower Three Runs Baptist Church in Martin, SC, his life was a reflection of his deep faith and commitment to serving others.

From a young age, Mr. Claxton demonstrated a strong work ethic—saving diligently to buy a bicycle that would help him deliver newspapers for the Augusta Chronicle. In his earlier years, he also managed a men's competitive softball team, showing his passion for sports and community.

An avid hunter and gardener, Mr. Claxton found joy and peace in nature. Yet, above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and most importantly, as a faithful child of God. His presence, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and caregivers who provided exceptional care during Mr. Claxton's illness.
