Martha Jane Jones Lakeman

Ms. Martha Jane Jones Lakeman, age 89, entered into rest on Wednesday January 14, 2026.

She is survived by her daughters, Carla D. (Harold) Hinkler, Penelope Jane (Steve) Burton, Renee (James) Demedicis; son, Thomas H. (Susan) Davis, Jr.; grandchildren, Christine Wueste, Daniel Hinkler, Thomas H. Davis, I., Russell Anthony Davis, Lauren Burton, Elizabeth Phillips and Justin Michael Devaughn; and four great grandchildren.

Ms. Lakeman was a highly skilled Master Duplicate Bridge Player. She enjoyed playing the game with her friends and playing competitively. She loved to travel the world and go on cruises. She was a member of the SERTOMA Club of North Augusta and the VFW. In her years of good health she was a faithful member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in North Augusta. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched in her 89 beautiful years.

A graveside memorial service honoring her life and legacy will be held on Saturday January 24, 2026 at 2PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, SC with her son Thomas Davis, Jr. and son-in-law, Steve Burton officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
