Ted "Red" Smith

Mr. Ted Benjamin Smith, 61, entered into rest at his home peacefully on July 27, 2026.

Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Rebecca Meeds (Nathan), Julia Smith (Michael Barwick) and James “JT” Smith (Shelby Maples); mother, Karen Smith; brother, James Smith Jr.; sister, Patricia Campbell; grandchildren, Connor Meeds, Kennedy Meeds, Adalyne Britt, Jonah Britt, Blakely Smith and a precious grandbaby on the way; and his niece, Tabitha Wheeler (Joseph) and their family.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his father, James Wilton Smith Sr.; siblings, Andrew Smith and Amanda Smith; and his nephew, Mickey Turner.

Mr. Smith was locally known as “Red”. He spent most of time playing pool with friends, and also enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR during his free time. A hardworking man with unmatched work ethic, he could fix almost anything and was always willing to help others. He had a kind heart, a generous spirit and a special love for his cat, who held a cherished place in his life. Mr. Smith also served in the Army National Guard for a short period of time.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
